SpiceJet flight returns Kolkata after engine blade breaks during take-off

  • The plane took off at around 1:09 am from Kolkata with 178 passengers and six crew on board
  • The airline has arranged another plane for passengers on Monday

A SpiceJet flight to Bangkok had to return to the Kolkata airport after one of its left engine blades broke on take-off on Sunday night. The plane took off at around 1:09 am from Kolkata with 178 passengers and six crew on board.

Sources said in a report that the flight landed safely at the Kolkata airport around 1:27 am. One of the plane's engine blades broke off during takeoff.

The airline has arranged another plane for passengers on Monday. The new flight to Bangkok took off from Calcutta airport at around seven in the morning on Monday.
